FOR EU IMPORTERS AND THEIR CUSTOMS BROKERS

Know the code, the duty and the CBAM status before your goods ship.

ThetaTrade reads your invoice lines and gives each one a tariff code with the reasoning written out, the anti-dumping and other measures for its origin, and its CBAM status. Your broker gets a checked pack instead of a list of questions.

30-minute demo: bring a recent invoice and we'll run it live. Starting with aluminium (CN Chapter 76).

Where import costs hide

Each of these surfaces after the goods have shipped, when it's hardest to fix.

A code without a reason

A code copied from last year's invoice can't be defended in an audit. If customs disagrees, you pay the difference later.

Anti-dumping found too late

Which rate applies depends on the producer and a signed invoice declaration. Those details are hard to get once the container is at sea.

CBAM tonnage nobody tracks

The 50-tonne threshold counts the whole year, across every shipment and broker. Above it, CBAM obligations apply to all of that year's imports.

How it works

Three steps, from invoice to a pack your broker can file from.

1. Enter the invoice lines

Paste the descriptions as they appear on the invoice, in English or German, with origin, weight and value.

2. Get code, measures and CBAM

Each line gets a CN and TARIC code with its legal reasoning, the duties and trade measures for its origin, and whether it counts toward your CBAM total.

3. Close the gaps, then hand over

Where one fact decides the code, ThetaTrade asks it and drafts the email to your supplier. Your broker gets the codes, measures and reasoning per line.

What you get for every line

Three answers, each with its source, so you can check it and defend it.

A classification with its reasoning

The CN and TARIC code, with each step cited: the interpretative rules, the chapter and subheading notes, the TARIC line text. Anything assumed is listed.

  • Names the one fact that decides between codes
  • Shows where each answer leads
  • Reads English and German trade wording

Duties and trade measures

From the EU tariff for the line's origin: third-country duty, preferences, anti-dumping and countervailing duties, open reviews and import controls.

  • Each listed producer's rate, and the invoice declaration it needs
  • The residual rate if the producer isn't listed
  • The regulation behind every measure

CBAM status and tonnage

In scope or not, decided by the code and origin, with a running yearly total per importer against the 50-tonne threshold.

  • Emissions-data request drafted for each supplier
  • Warning as you approach the threshold
  • Certificates on sale from February 2027; first declaration due 30 September 2027

Built to work with your customs broker

ThetaTrade doesn't file declarations. It prepares the facts, so your broker starts from a checked code instead of a question.

One row per line

CN and TARIC code, the 11-digit German code, duties, the anti-dumping additional code, CBAM status and the reasoning.

Questions answered upstream

Supplier questions go out before the goods arrive, not when the declaration is due.

An export brokers can import

We're shaping the format with customs brokers now. If you're a customs representative, we'd like to hear what your software needs.

A real example

Six lines from a sample shipment into Germany, run through ThetaTrade with EU tariff data as of October 2026.

ThetaTrade: six invoice lines typed in, then the summary: 5 of 6 coded, 2 with anti-dumping duty, 26.3 of 50 t CBAM
ThetaTrade asks whether the line 2 profile is hollow, shows the code for each answer and drafts the supplier email

Questions

Is the result a binding classification?

No. ThetaTrade gives you a reasoned recommendation and shows its sources. Your broker files the declaration. For legal certainty on a product you import regularly, you can apply to customs for binding tariff information (BTI).

Where does the tariff data come from?

Codes and measures come from the EU tariff (TARIC) and are checked for each line, so anti-dumping duties, reviews and import controls are current on the day you run it. Every measure links to its regulation.

Which goods does it cover?

Aluminium today (CN Chapter 76): unwrought metal, scrap, powders, bars, profiles, wire, plate, sheet, foil, tubes, structures and articles. We started there because aluminium combines CBAM with significant anti-dumping exposure. Importing something else? Tell us in the demo.

Does it replace my customs broker?

No. It prepares the information your broker needs, keeps the reasoning with it, and gets supplier questions answered earlier.

Does it work in German?

Yes, it reads German and English invoice wording, such as “Alu-Hohlprofil EN AW-6063, Mehrkammer”.
